Where my work sits
I am John Adewole, a digital participation researcher, community technologist, and founder of IFB Gaming. My work sits at the intersection of digital inclusion, online communities, civic participation, and emerging technologies.
Through research, practice, and community engagement, I explore how people enter digital participation, how communities form around digital systems, and how societies can build more inclusive and future-ready digital environments.
My website documents a growing body of conceptual work, including the Multiplayer Online Social Formation Cycle (MOSFC), which explores how individuals move from curiosity to belonging in digital communities, and the Seven Pillars of Future-Proofed Digital Communities, which offers a broader framework for understanding what digitally inclusive societies require.
Community and practice
Grounded in real communities
Alongside research and writing, I have worked with community organisations, educators, and public-interest initiatives to support digital inclusion, digital participation, and community-centred technology development.
These experiences have shaped my interest in place-based digital ecosystems and the role of local communities in shaping the future of digital society.
Collaboration and engagement
Let’s work together
I welcome conversations and collaboration with researchers, universities, policymakers, civic organisations, digital inclusion networks, and community technology initiatives.
