IFB Gaming is proud to present Empowering Futures in Southwark, an initiative designed to close the digital divide and promote community well-being. Following the success of Get Online Week at the Brandon Estate in 2023, IFB Gaming is expanding its reach and impact by inviting more organizations in Southwark to participate.
Initiative Overview
Empowering Futures in Southwark aims to provide residents, especially those from underserved communities, with the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to navigate the digital world. By focusing on digital inclusion, the initiative equips Charities and CICs to support families with the ability to access essential services such as healthcare, education, and financial resources. It also fosters economic resilience, enabling residents to find new opportunities and reduce living costs through online platforms.
Success Story: Get Online Week
The Get Online Week event at Brandon Estate is a key annual milestone in the digital inclusion movement. Now in it’s 17th year, John Adewole and IFB Gaming have successfully delivered seven Get Online Week Campaigns in Southwark.
In 2023, John Adewole and IFB Gaming partnered with BREAKTHEBARRIER CIC, for Get Online Week. The event featured workshops on computer programming, email setup, and practical tips to save money through online services. The initiative not only helped residents improve their digital skills but also created a sense of community engagement and empowerment. The event is featured on Community Southwark’s Success Stories. One notable outcome was the participation of the local NHS, demonstrating how digital access can enhance public health outcomes by making it easier for residents to book vaccinations and medical appointments online. By reducing barriers to technology, Get Online Week showcased the profound impact digital inclusion can have on improving lives.

This year, John Adewole and IFB Gaming have partnered with Southwark Council’s Digital Learning Team, Learn and Play CIC, Jack Pelier Community Hub and Citizen Advice and Awareness Foundation to deliver a more connected Get Online Week between the 14th-21st of October 2024.
